NORTH AMERICAN SCRABBLE PLAYERS ASSOCIATION

FOUNDATION FOR YOUTH LITERACY

The NASPA Foundation for Youth Literacy works to foster literacy, mathematics, strategic ability, and fair play among students through the facilitation and organization of word game play.

Support School Scrabble

In fact, the Foundation's most encouraging program helps students participate in School SCRABBLE, a youth-oriented version of tournament play that was initiated by the National SCRABBLE Association. Both through local clubs and national tournaments, the School SCRABBLE program boosts student engagement and inspires players to learn more.

Worth a Thousand Words

The benefits of playing School SCRABBLE go beyond friendly competition with classmates. In fact, Foundation volunteers report that the game broadens a young player’s full potential by building word skills, thinking skills and character. Providing students with opportunities to profit from this experience forms the core focus for the NASPA Foundation for Youth Literacy.

Donations Create a Win-Win-Win Situation

Donations to the Foundation provide equipment and other support to School SCRABBLE teams so they can represent their communities at local and national tournaments. Such youth participation generates learning experiences that have lifelong effects on the ability to gather information and make critical decisions.

Next Level:

"I have coached School Scrabble since my 21-year-old son was a sixth grader, and I continue to find it fulfilling and inspiring to see kids find great words, master teamwork and strategy, and enjoy a game while learning so many valuable life lessons."

                   Katya Lezin, Coach

"In all my years of teaching and coaching, the School Scrabble Program has been the best way I've ever seen to get students of all abilities truly excited to learn new words and dictionary definitions, spelling rules, and to improve and demonstrate their mental math skills.
